Dear St. Charles Parents!
May is in the air! We were blessed with a great May Crowning and Volunteer Appreciation Reception last week! Our volunteers are the best. The St. Charles Home & School has made extraordinary efforts this week with Teacher Appreciation Week. We appreciate our whole staff this week, and each day has featured some kind gesture toward the staff. We had brunch, lunch, snacks, treats, Chapstick (that’s right), coffee, and nail files. We definitely have the experience of being appreciated. Thank you, Home & School, thank you, parents. We are honored to serve your children.
Spring testing is wrapping up, and we’ll be sending results out at the end of the school year. Please consider contacting your legislator about including non-public schools in the School Safety Act. Our kids are members of the public, and so are we, the parents. School safety is now an issue at every school; there’s no reason to leave Catholic schools out of support for school safety. Tour season is certainly jumping! Please keep sharing St. Charles School with people you know. St. Charles is also hiring paraprofessionals and teachers; the positions open are on the Archdiocese Careers website.
Next week, we look forward to the K-4 Spring concert in honor of Mary, our mother. This is a sure sign of spring, even if we are still wearing sweatshirts!

K-4 Elementary Concert Honoring the Blessed Mother
The concert is on Thursday, May 14, in the church at 6:30 PM. All are welcome. K-4 students are to meet in Doran Hall at 6:15 PM, dressed in their Easter best. See all details here.
Piano Recital ~ Tuesday May 12
Mrs Zabinski’s piano students will be performing at a piano recital on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:00 PM in the cafeteria. Mrs. Zabinski teaches piano during the school day on Tuesdays. This event is open to anyone and everyone who wants to come and enjoy the music.

St. Charles Playgroup ~ May Update
St. Charles Borromeo invites parents and their young children to join us weekly for a weekly playgroup on Thursday mornings at 10:00 AM. Beginning in May we will come together at local parks to play and socialize. Sign up HERE to receive weekly emails with the meet-up location. More details here.

Summer Tutoring at St. Charles
Jen Gasik – Is your student struggling with math or reading/spelling concepts? Do you want your student/s to have a weekly “brush up” on skills throughout the summer? Do you have a small group of student friends who would like to have a summer book club or a 6-8 week introduction to playing the piano? I am available for many fun learning opportunities this summer! Victoria Paine – I bring the skills of a reading specialist in addition to my regular work with any English subject matter (reading, writing, grammar, spelling). I will tutor students in 4th grade and above. I am available Tuesday during the day. Both short-term help on summer reading projects and long-term goals to improve reading are possible. Jeanne Sharp – I am a licensed middle school math teacher, and I would be available to work with 6th – 8th grade students looking for some math tutoring. Please feel free to reach out to me by email at jsharp@stchbs.org.

The Meal Train Ministry
Would you like to help provide meals for a person or family in their time of need? OR do you or someone you know have a short-term need (due to a birth, surgery, illness, etc.) for meals to be delivered to your home? Contact Joan if you are interested in this ministry.
