Fr. 7.31 Village Fest Parade
Th. 8.27 Back to School Night
Tu. 9.1 First Day of School

Dear St. Charles Parents!

As the 2025-26 school year comes to a close, I find my days filled with work for the 2026-27 school year. The sun sets on another year of making disciples of Jesus Christ. What a blessing to come to work each day with a team dedicated to our mission and sharing the Catholic faith with the children who will lead our community, country, and planet in a few short years.

If you or someone you know is at a point in life where there is interest in working part-time in an environment that will ignite your faith, we should talk. I have opportunities for people who want to work afternoons in our after-school care program. We’re also looking for substitute support in the health office, classroom support, and even substitute teachers. If volunteering is your interest, we have those opportunities also! We have been so blessed to offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in our preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade. If you are interested in getting involved in this program, which is bringing our youngest students closer to Christ, we should talk. Please contact me at dkieffer@stchbs.org or call the school office at 612-781-2643. I’ll be making plans for next year all summer; if you feel called to be a part of those plans, please contact me.

Report cards will be live Monday. You’ll receive an email with directions about how to access them in Educate. Individual MAP testing results will be mailed out in the next few days.

If you are interested in summer tutoring for your child, we do have some St. Charles teachers who provide summer tutoring for a fee. Please look below for the teachers who are tutoring and for their contact information if you are interested.

Our IXL membership does go through the summer, so if your child is on IXL and you would like to continue enrichment activities and lessons into the summer, the program is available. The license expires August 2nd, but I plan to renew it.  There should be no interruption in service. If you are wondering about login information, please contact your child’s teacher.

If you are more of a paper and pencil person, here are a couple of companies that sell summer workbooks that I think are pretty good resources:

https://www.summerbridgeactivities.org/

The summer office hours are as follows:

Monday, June 8 – Thursday, June 11: 9AM – 3PM

Monday, June 15 – Thursday, June 18: 9AM – Noon

From Monday, June 22 – Tuesday, August 11: by appointment (612-781-2643 or stchbs@stchbs.org)

Wednesday, August 12 – Thursday, August 13: 9AM – Noon

Monday, August 17 – Thursday, August 20: 9AM – Noon

We will be checking emails throughout the summer.

The best way to get a hold of me, the office staff, or the teachers in the summer is by email. If you would like a meeting or phone call, we’ll set that up via email. We have important June emails that go out, some about the year behind us and some about the year ahead. Please watch for these emails!

Thank you for a great school year and for choosing St. Charles for your children. The Tailgating Party on Wednesday night was fantastic! I’m so glad we had so many people show up. Have a safe and relaxing summer, get to church on Sundays, and say your prayers each day!

From all of us, please keep us in your prayers, you will be in ours.

God bless you,

Danny Kieffer

Summer Tutoring at St. Charles

Jen Gasik – Is your student struggling with math or reading/spelling concepts? Do you want your student/s to have a weekly “brush up” on skills throughout the summer?  Do you have a small group of student friends who would like to have a summer book club or a 6-8 week introduction to playing the piano? I am available for many fun learning opportunities this summer! Flexible scheduling. Please email jgasik@stchbs.org for more info!

Victoria Paine – I bring the skills of a reading specialist in addition to my regular work with any English subject matter (reading, writing, grammar, spelling). I will tutor students in 4th grade and above. I am available Tuesday during the day. Both short-term help on summer reading projects and long-term goals to improve reading are possible. If you are interested in booking a time slot or would like more information, please contact me at vpaine@stchbs.org.

Jeanne Sharp – I am a licensed middle school math teacher, and I would be available to work with 6th – 8th grade students looking for some math tutoring. Please feel free to reach out to me by email at jsharp@stchbs.org.
