Dear St. Charles Parents!
Welcome back! By Thursday, it is like we were never apart, and things are running as smoothly as ever.
This weekend is the Liz Hickman-Sue McSherry Basketball Blast, with the St. Charles Alumni & Friends Basketball Tournament running tonight, tomorrow night, and finishing on Saturday. The Basketball Blast will start at 10:00 AM on Saturday and run through the last game ending around 8:00 PM. Hope to see you there! We are in need of volunteers to run the concession stand for some of the later spots this weekend! Kindergarten Round Up is Tuesday, January 13, at 6:30 PM, in the St. Charles cafeteria. We are calling all eligible Kindergarteners for the 2026-27 school year and their parents to attend! We sent home fliers along with business cards with every St. Charles School family to share with friends and family. Please bring your incoming Kindergartener, if you have one, and please share the information about this evening with your friends and family!
Preschool Parent Information Night is coming up on Tuesday, January 20, at 6:30 PM. For this event, we are inviting all parents of next school year’s 3- and 4-year-olds to attend. This one is a parent-only event. The Preschool Parent Information Night flier is also in the envelope that came home this week; check your students’ backpacks!
Some trimester 1 report cards are still waiting to be viewed. Please see the directions here to log into your Educate account to see your child(rens) 1st trimester report card. There is a box to check to acknowledge that you have seen the report card. This lets teachers know that you have received the information.
Please add Parents Night Out to your calendar for Friday, January 22. This flier was also in the magic envelope that hopefully you have seen. Do not bring any kids to this event; it is strictly for you, put on by Home & School, the heartbeat of the St. Charles community. Give yourself the gift of a night out to bond with some of your community members!
Finally, the St. Anthony and Minneapolis Police departments have each been training in our building this week. It is great to have local law enforcement practice emergency training on our campus and become familiar with our layout. All of the emergency vehicles parked outside school are not a cause for alarm! Tonight is the final night there will be training in our school; it will not interfere with the Alumni & Friends Basketball Tournament in the gymnasium and concession stand area.

The Liz Hickman Sue McSherry Basketball Blast~January 10
This is the 21st year of celebrating Liz and the 7th year of celebrating Sue. Please join us for a fun-filled day of basketball, a silent auction, and a chance to honor Liz and Sue! We are honored to celebrate their lives and to raise money for the St. Charles Sue McSherry Scholarship Fund and Make-A-Wish of Minnesota.
Games begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday and continue throughout the day, ending with the Boys 8th game starting about 7:00PM!
Liz Hickman was a student at St. Charles who battled cancer for 7 years and passed away in 2005. Sue McSherry was part of the St. Charles staff and a beloved mother of 8 kids who attended St. Charles. Sue passed away from cancer in 2019. Liz and Sue lived their lives with faith, courage, and joy. They were inspirations to all who were blessed to have known them.
Concession Stand Help Needed!
If you’ve never volunteered at the concession stand or would like a refresher training, please leave a comment when you sign up, and we’ll be sure to have a seasoned team member there to train you and work with you. Thank you!

Save the Date~Borromeo Bash~April 25, 2026
Save the date: The Borromeo Bash is set for April 25, 2026! Registration is live NOW, and Early Bird Pricing will end on March 1st.
The Borromeo Bash is our school’s largest fundraising event of the year! We are returning to the Hollywood Theater! Thank you, Andrew Volna, for the donation of this amazing location! This year we will be raising funds towards the historic front steps of the school (original to 1938!), expand services for students with special needs, and the Gary Wilmer Scholarship Fund. There will be great food, specialty drinks, fantastic silent, and live auction items to bid on, the best dance party, and so much more!

Evening to Affirm Life Pasta Dinner ~Saturday, January 24
The annual Pasta & Meatball Dinner will be held on Saturday, January 24th, in Doran Hall following the 5:00PM Mass. The guest speaker will be Pam Baker from Abria Pregnancy Resources, and she will be speaking about how “Courage is Contagious.” There is no charge, but a free will offering will be accepted for Abria Pregnancy Resources. Families are welcome! Seating is limited, so please register HERE.
The Meal Train Ministry
Would you like to help provide meals for a person or family in their time of need? OR do you or someone you know have a short-term need (due to a birth, surgery, illness, etc.) for meals to be delivered to your home? Contact Joan Conlin if you are interested in this ministry.

- For a successful January surgery for Christophe, father of students Côme, Inés, Amaury, and Zita. And for the well-being of the whole family during this time.
- In thanksgiving for a successful surgery in December, and now prayers for a complete and speedy recovery for 2025 graduate, Robert, brother of student June.
- For the repose of the soul of Dennis, grandpa to students Macallan and Maeli. May he rest in peace, and may his family be comforted in their time of sorrow.
- For complete healing for our former, beloved teacher, Anne Flynn, who is battling cancer once again. For healing for Mrs. Flynn and guidance and strength for her family.
- For comfort and healing for the Annunciation Community.
- For the peace of Christ to reign in our hearts, our homes, our community, our world.
