We. 10.22 Picture Retake Day
Fr. 10.24 All School Rosary

Dear Charger Parents,

What a successful Marathon day! Thank you to all who have shown up for the Marathon. We have people that came to pray, to complete service projects, to donate, to request donations, and, of course, people who showed up to walk the Marathon and bond with other Charger families. I would like to thank our Home and School Marathon team: Sarah Gideo, Bridget  Polsfuss, Kathryn Korchak, Stephanie Rosener, and Marrissa Ludwig. Thank you for your leadership and bringing us a successful Marathon! We are within $5,000 of reaching our $60,000 goal! Please send your Marathon money in tomorrow to be part of the classroom incentives and final prize drawing! We are working to get all of it in before the weekend!

The wood chips on the St. Charles’ playground have never looked so beautiful! Over the last few weeks, we have had volunteers sweating in the hot weather to redistribute the wood chips so that they stay in place, clean up chips that were stuck in the fence, and install a piece of canvas to deflect future strays back into the timbers. I would like to thank the volunteers who gave their free time to give us a new playground peace-of-mind. The team included Steve Scott, Ron Gavino, Casey Scott, Randy Temple, Jake Sparre, Kevin Huges, Veronica Paulson (with Allie and Austin doing the work), Jim and Jennifer Cummings and, of course, Elmer Gavino, our community volunteer champion. When you look at this list of names you see Chargers from past and present, some are alumni, some are parents, and some are members of the parish. This is a great testament to the love people have for St. Charles. Great work Chippers!

Wolf Ridge is coming up fast. Hopefully, during the Marathon, you had a chance to sample the coffee they are selling. Please find a 6th grader to purchase coffee or calendars or both! (Or contact the office.)

Next week is the shortest longest week of the year. We have school Monday – Wednesday, and we have conferences Monday and Tuesday evening. Please take advantage of conferences and sign up to speak to very important people in your child’s life. K-5 conferences will be in your child’s homeroom, grades 6-8 will be in the cafeteria. We will be utilizing the same system as last year for grade 6-8 conferences. We will send a reminder of how the system works to parents of grades 6-8.

It was great to see so many families at Family Formation Night last night! If you missed last night, set your sights on November 1st for the All Saints Party on Saturday Night. The video from last night’s talk will be posted here soon. It’s worth checking out.

On October 24th, we’ll be celebrating the month of the rosary by saying the rosary as a community after the Friday morning Mass. Our 2nd grade will lead us in a rosary procession around the block. Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us!

Parent Information Night Video is coming soon!

God bless you,

Danny

Fall Conferences ~ Next Week

Conferences will be held on Monday, October 13th, and Tuesday, October 14th from 3:30 to 8:00 PM.

To schedule conferences go to the St. Charles School Scheduling Page, select relevant preschool, elementary teacher(s) and/or a middle school time slot, and then register your name and contact info. This creates a registration for each conference and sends you a confirmation email with a link to choose appointment times. For more details about conferences, please refer to the September 24th email sent from the main school email account. Please contact the school office with questions or assistance at 612-781-2643.

MARATHON Update & Thank YOU!

A big thank you to all of the families who attended the annual St. Charles School Marathon on October 4th! We started with Mass with Father Michael Maloney, prayed the rosary, and ran Charger-spirited laps around the Marathon route! To refuel, the Knights of Columbus served us hot dogs donated by CKC Foods.

We told some jokes and had the big bike drawing generously donated by CARS Bike Shop.

Many thanks to the Knights of Columbus for preparing food, CARS Bikes for the bike donation, our school lunch provider CKC Foods for donating the hot dogs, Premium Waters for the waters, Trio Supply for donating all the paper products, and to the St Charles staff for their amazing support and front-line help! A special thank you to the continued generosity of Peggy and Steve Sauer and Kysa Hubbard for all the prize donations!!

All students who meet their individual goal of $200 by tomorrow, October 10, will be part of the grand prize drawing! We are very close to our goal of $60,000! As of today, we just passed $56,000. There is still time to turn in pledges.  Go Chargers!!!

If you would like to donate through your TADS account, contact Angela at abollensen@stchbs.org. You can also donate online through WeShare. Remember to put your student’s name in the comment section. Thank you for your generosity!

Would you like to help provide meals for a person or family in their time of need?  OR do you or someone you know have a short-term need (due to a birth, surgery, illness, etc.) for meals to be delivered to your home? Contact Joan Conlin if you are interested in this ministry.

Parish Updates and Events

Join a Parish Small Group!

Please consider joining a small group here at St. Charles.  The focus this year will be on Reclaiming Sunday as the Lord’s Day.  These small groups are fellowship groups, prayer groups, study groups, and a place where you can grow in discipleship together. If you are interested in joining a small group, please click HERE or call the parish office at 612-781-6529.

Prayer Partners are Needed!

Calling parishioners and staff to volunteer to pray for our students! Parishioners and staff have an opportunity to pray for one of our students by name from November to April as our second and eighth graders prepare to receive important sacraments this year.  A “prayer partner” prays daily for a specific student (to be assigned) and writes a short monthly note of faithful encouragement to that special person. If you are interested in this amazing ministry, you can Sign-Up Here  OR email Linda with any questions you have. After signing up, you will receive more details along with the name of your student in mid-October.

Prayer Corner

If you would like to add someone to our prayer corner, please email the information to Danny Kieffer.

  • For Teri, mother of staff member Sharon and grandma of students Luke, Lilly, Leo, Michael, and former student Noah, for a smooth and speedy recovery after surgery and prayers for ongoing medical needs.
  • For the repose of the soul of Isabella, a former student and beloved niece of office staff members Ann-Marie and Mary, as well as sibling and cousin to several former students. May she rest in peace, and may her family be comforted in their time of sorrow.
  • For comfort and healing for the Annunciation Community.
  • For the peace of Christ to reign in our hearts, our homes, our community, our world.
