Looking Ahead

We. 9.24 Picture Day
Sa. 10.4 St. Charles School Marathon

Dear St. Charles Parents,

Today is September 11th, Patriot Day. This is a day we all remember. Tragic events took place that affected
millions of lives in our country and around the world. Let’s keep those affected families in our prayers. Even years later, there is a lot of pain from the many lost lives.

Our second week of school is all but in the books, and things are really coming together for a great year!

As a reminder, there is no Parent Information Night this evening – the perfect opportunity for some weeknight family time! The teachers and I are going to send all of the pertinent parent information home electronically on September 18th. I am planning to send a slideshow to parents about what is going on at our school this year. It will probably be like the one I sent in August with audio explaining the slides.

Please take note of the drop-off and pick-up instructions that came out in an email earlier today. We are working on a video to help parents better understand our drop-off and pick-up processes.

We will begin NWEA MAP testing next week! Our students in grades K & 1st take two tests that take about 50 minutes each. Our 2nd-8th graders take 3 tests that are the same length. Please make sure your kids eat a good breakfast, get plenty of sleep, and arrive at school on time to help the process go well. These tests will help us assess where the students are currently and plan effective instruction accordingly.

Marathon season is here! We are doing our first prize drawing tomorrow at the end of the day. This is a great time to open that Marathon packet from Back to School Night and read over what is going on with the Marathon this year! It is going to be a sunny weekend, a perfect chance for students to speak with family, friends, and neighbors about sponsoring them. We are taking prayer intentions, organizing service projects, and of course,
collecting money for our school. We want the students to have these conversations, you’re their coach, of course!

This week, the Virtue of the Week has been Docility. This is not one of the first 10 virtues that I think of, but I’ve been learning that it doesn’t just mean be calm! Docility is about being ready to learn, being open to coaching, and allowing other people to share wisdom with you. We can all learn something new!

Uniform reminders are going out this week to students if there is something that needs to be addressed. If you receive one of these reminders, please take care of it by Monday, September 15. I know it seems like a lot of rules at the beginning of the year. We sent out reminders over the summer, and teachers and I are addressing them now, so we can get on with the year!

Thank you for your partnership, and God bless you,

Danny Kieffer

St. Charles School Principal

Middle School Honor Roll Assembly for 2024-25 Trimester 3 ~ Friday, Sept. 12

Following 8:00 AM Mass on Friday, September 12, the current 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who received honors and high honors in the 3rd trimester of the last school year will be acknowledged. Come for Mass and stay to applaud their accomplishments.

Marathon 2025~ Saturday, October 4

The Marathon is one of the most important school fundraising events of the year. All donations go directly
to our school’s operating budget to support various programs.

We are asking each student in Kindergarten through 8th grade to meet a minimum fundraising goal of
$200. Our school’s total goal to reach is $60,000. Students in preschool and pre-kindergarten are also
invited to participate but are not required.

TADS

You can make your family’s contribution to the Marathon via TADS. Please contact Angela Bollensen
(abollensen@stcbs.org) to make arrangements.

ONLINE via WESHARE

Please share this link with your family, friends, and neighbors via social media, email, or text. To allocate
funds to a specific student(s), please put their name(s) in the comment section. This will count towards
their individual fundraising goal.

packet) to the office to be read during the 9:00 AM Mass and rosary. Thank you and can’t wait to see
everyone there!!!

School Year Reminders

  • Please send a note to school if there is a change in your child’s end-of-the-day routine. If changes need to be communicated after the day begins, please be sure to include the office in any email communications (stchbs@stchbs.org) because teachers may not have a chance to check email during the day. You may also call the school office at 612-781-2643.

  • All children waiting for rides after 3:00 PM will be sent to St. Charles After School Care.

Join other parents and their young children for a time to socialize and play. Please sign up at flocknote.com/stchb to receive email updates. Contact Marge Bona at czechgret@gmail.com with questions.
