2nd Grade Teacher
What do you love most about your work at St. Charles?
I started at St. Charles in 2017, and from the moment I first stepped into the building, I have been overwhelmed by the strong sense of community at our school. Staff and parents have been eager to introduce themselves, learn about me and offer warm smiles and words of welcome. I feel energized each day by the vibrant students and teachers. The people at this school truly care about one another and treat each other like family. I love that I feel at home coming to work each day!
How does our faith-based environment affect what you accomplish with kids?
I attended Catholic school growing up in Winona, MN and was forever impacted by the education and care that I received. I now feel a passion to continue the mission of Catholic education. At St. Charles, faith and discipleship are interwoven into every moment of the day. We meet the daily struggles, triumphs, joys, and disappointments with prayer and comfort in Christ. Our mission inspires our students to not only learn about our faith, the Bible, and Jesus, but to translate our beliefs into practice. I feel privileged to help students feel the fire of the Holy Spirit and share it with others.
Share a bit about yourself.
I am originally from Winona, MN. After graduating from Cotter High School, I went on to receive my B.A. in Elementary Education at the College of St. Benedict. I began my career teaching 4th grade as a volunteer with Christ the King Service Corps in Detroit, Michigan. After completing my year of service, I moved back to Minnesota and taught 3rd and 2nd grade. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my nephews and friends. My husband and I enjoy camping, hiking, and trying new recipes together.
